It was only after Peter made the bold declaration: “You are the Christ the Son of the living God” that Jesus told Peter who he really was: “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”
We do not know who we are apart from Christ. Through the gift of faith we can acknowledge God for who He is…and He, in turn, reveals to us who, in fact, we truly are.
