I have an old memory of a still Fall walk. The crackling of the leaves under my feet. The air crisply touching my face. I picked up a leaf and thought myself poetic. I mused on the leaf and my soul.

But today I am much less poetic. I have seen too much and experienced too much to simply ponder a leaf found in the Fall.
