It is very easy to make up our own theology: “Well, I know that Jesus would agree with me…” Yet, let’s be frank: Jesus hardly agreed with anyone. From the earliest story we see Jesus disagreeing about leaving the Temple with his family and he kept on that path right to the cross. Our own theology will agree with our own views, desires and selfishness. The real Jesus, though, would most likely respond to our “theology” as he did to Peter: “Get behind me Satan.”
