Why do we pray at all? If God is omniscient then He doesn’t need for us to tell him anything. If He is sovereign then He is already in control and we cannot change that. If He is omnipotent then He is already acting and we can add nothing more.

We pray because we love God and we love our neighbor. And our prayers unite the three of us together. If you want to see the meaning of prayer, hold the hand of a dying friend and pray. Then it will become clear.

A cord of three strands is not easily broken.
