catherine-of-alexandria:

“Charity and kindness unwedded to truth are not charity and kindness, but deceit and vanity.”

— St. Ignatius of Loyola

Charity and Kindness are other focused – they only exist in communion with someone else. Their very essence demands Truth. They demand that we see others as they are. That we see them with the eyes of Christ. Without Truth, Charity and Kindness are self-focused. They are expressions of our own desires and our own wants. In this lie, they perish. This death, though, is not one that disappears into quietness. No, this death is a transformation into a monstrosity. A mask of piety over a putrified heart. And God help any who fall for the disguise.
