Abba Dorotheus of Gaza said: “If we wish to acquire humility, we must ask God to send us someone who will offend us.”

Let us not hate our brother – even if our brother has brought great offense to us. Does not God speak through all things? Through all people? The one who offends us was also called by name, just as we were, by Christ on the cross.

Our love for the one who offends us may be the only love that person has ever received.
