“Those who resist the power of death are called to search for life always and everywhere.”
— Henri Nouwen, Peacework
We are hiding. We pursue the same path as Adam. We have come to the realization that as in Adam all die. But we don’t want to die. We don’t want to ponder our own end. The closing of our eyes without a reopening.
As we reel from what we know is true we force ourselves into a myriad of activities – each one to stave off the stench. We create our own life. One without death. One that is eternal in the now of our experience. I am life.
How hard is our reconciliation when our bodies lay on the bed of our sickness? When we must come out of hiding and see our own creation as dust. Here is where Truth is found. When we see ourselves as we really are.
