catherine-of-alexandria:

“Charity and kindness unwedded to truth are not charity and kindness, but deceit and vanity.”

— St. Ignatius of Loyola

How can this be? Are not charity and kindness acts that simply are what they are? Are they not actions that produce a result in someone else?

Let’s look deeper. From where do charity and kindness originate? Look at your heart. Can you really possess charity and kindness if what is inside of you is foggy and lost? If you have hatred for your brother? If you are looking – even so very slightly – to see who is watching?

We will only bring forth into the world what is already inside of us. If we have lied to ourselves about our very nature, we will birth a lie. No matter how we choose to clothe it. But from Truth. Yes, from our acceptance and embracing of the Truth. We will bring forth the Beauty of God.
