The cause of all our suffering is in our thoughts. – St. Mark the Ascetic
We can control the movement of our bodies. The depth of our breathing. Even our resistance to pain. But the mind. It is a wild creature that runs unbridled. It is both a friend and a foe. Contemplating the goodness of God and waging war against our soul.
This same mind that can think deeply and with great articulation and find itself ruminating on destruction – turning one event into a lifetime of suffering.
Nail it to the cross. Put on the mind of Christ. And in Him find peace.
