The insults of men and the pains of life are mere useful distractions to those who attentively worship God dwelling in their own hearts.
If we follow Christ, carrying the cross He has given us, we will become the object of ridicule. We will bear the insults and slander that our Savior also bore. Our cross is more than beams of wood. Our cross is more than a symbol of suffering. Our cross is to walk the path of Jesus. And what is this path? Being mocked, ostracized, forgotten, beaten, hated, betrayed, pierced, left for dead.
If we believe that being a disciple of Jesus will bring us money, prestige, fame, homes, cars, ease of life: we are not following Jesus. We have already gone down the path of Satan. We have been decieved.
