God does not promise to keep us from the pit. He does not make any guarantees that we will be saved from deep suffering. Pain. The feeling of the flames of the world licking at our feet. He does not provide us a road that bypasses Golgatha.

But He does promise us something truly amazing regardless of the struggle. The fight. The darkness. The writhing we may undergo. He – The Ground of All Being, The Creator of All That Is – will go through it with us. His love is also His humility. And He humbly comes to our side. Holds our shaking bodies. And whispers Truth in our ears: I am with you.
