And they blindfolded him, and smote his face. And they asked him, saying: Prophesy, who is it that struck thee? – St. Luke 22:64
Imagine what it was for Christ to be blindfolded and struck across the face. On his thorn encircled brow? And then asked – Prophesy! Who struck you?
And in His mind: it was you, Marcus, who was held closely by your mother when you were burning with fever. It was you, Marcus, who kissed the cheek of your beautiful wife. It was you, Marcus, whom I consoled when you cried at the death of your father.
It was you, Marcus, that I dreamed of and loved for all eternity.
You are the one who struck Me. You are the one I love.
