When God puts love and compassion in your heart toward someone, He’s offering you an opportunity to make a difference in that person’s life. You must learn to follow that love. Don’t ignore it. Act on it. Somebody needs what you have #gospelchallenge (Lk 7:11-17)
Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into the places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion, and anguish. Compassion challenges us to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears. Compassion requires us to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless. Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human || Henri Nouwen
To immerse ourselves in the pain of another requires that we are, in fact, truthful of our own pain…our own weakness. We can share in the pain and suffering of others because it is our pain and suffering. It is Christ’s pain and suffering. It is part of our cross.
