“Forgive me, Lord, soften my heart and teach me to look not at how people treat me, but how I treat people. And if they are hostile, inspire me, Lord, to pay them love and good and pray for them! ” – Archimandrite John (Krestiankin)

Can we see deeper than the superficial? Deeper than our own revulsions, pains, judgments? Can we see others as, at least, we see ourselves? All are loved by God. All are our brothers and sisters. The kindness we show a person may, very well, be the only kindness that person has received. We can break the hold of sin on another through an act of mercy.

Just as God broke the chains of sin on me by a great act of mercy.

Lord have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
