What is the difference between me and the Saints who have come before me? They understood that all of their efforts were for naught. That by remembering themselves they lost themselves. That every action, word and thought carried an effect, a consequence that was eternal. They understood that the path was always filled with peril.

And I understood nothing but my own passions. And even these confounded me.
