Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies. Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
Henry Francis Lyte
The last sight I would like to see before I shut my eyes for eternity is the cross of Christ. Not just a cross, though. A crucifix.
I would like my last view to be what I have caused through my life. I would like my last vision in the flesh to be the truth of my sin and the extent in which God has come to free me. What God would do out of love.
I would like the last image I ever see to be mercy.
