“He who avoids prayer is avoiding everything that is good.”
— St. John of the Cross (via dailysaintquotes)
If we avoid another person there is a reason. There is a choice we are faced with and a choice we make. It is our decision to jump into the elevator. We decide to move quickly around the corner. We avoid contact to safeguard ourselves.
If we are avoiding God. If we feel an aversion to pray. Then we are harboring darkness inside of us. We are holding onto sin in place of God. We can say what we like: I am too busy. I am tired. I have too much work.
But the truth is – we want sin more than we want God.
