We despise this word. This term flies in the face if everything we stand for. Everything that underpins us. It is a disparaging term – a vestige of time gone by. A life long since forgotten.

Obedience.

We have been taught from birth that we are the masters of our own destiny. We take in propoganda from every angle that we are the center of the universe. That we are individuals and that we are the focus.

Let us re-evaluate. We did not decide the date of our birth. The color of our eyes. The color of our skin. We do not give ourselves breath in the morning. We do not keep our hearts beating.

Come now. Be frank: we cannot even turn one gray hair on our heads back to its original color. We cannot add one day into our lives.

Are we really masters of anything? Are we really gods? We, who will all turn to dust and be forgotten?
