orthodoxgladness:

Humility is when a person considers himself a sinner who has not done anything good before God.

Abba Isaiah

In the learnings of humility of our Desert Fathers, they came to understand that in every categorization, every delineation of the saints and sinners; saved and unsaved; holy and wretched: we at the ones cast off to the left. Culled and burned. Unworthy without possibility of self-resolution.

To think we are the holy. We are the saved. We are the saints. Is to prove that we are so utterly lost in our wickedness that we cannot even see our own pride.

Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy.
