“Those who cannot conceive Friendship as a substantive love but only as a disguise or elaboration of Eros betray the fact that they have never had a Friend.”

— C. S. Lewis, The Four Loves

Christ, Himself, has defined the word friend when He said that He now calls us by that very term. When He laid down His life, He did it for His friends.

Wha type of love provides the avenue of a cross?

It is the true deep selflessness that we call love (agape) that drives us to the depths of friendship. And to the depths of life itself.
